Building the shared layer of the street.
We turn single-purpose poles into shared, multi-tenant infrastructure — so cities deploy less steel and earn more value from every site.
Less duplicated steel. More value per site.
Smartlamppost was founded in Trofa, Portugal, on a simple observation: the street is filling with poles that each do one job, while the value of those prime vertical locations goes unmeasured and unsold.
We borrowed the model that built the datacenter industry — colocation — and brought it to the street. One modular pole, deployed and permitted once, hosts many independent operators; a single platform turns each structure into a measured, revenue-generating asset.
Principles that shape what we build.
Shared by default
Infrastructure should be built once and used by many. Every design choice favours reuse over duplication.
Open & agnostic
Standard power, mounting and data interfaces keep the platform open to any service and any vendor.
Measured impact
Fewer structures, lower embodied carbon and energy data on every tenant — sustainability you can report.
From a single pilot to a managed portfolio.
2019 · Founded
Smartlamppost is founded in Trofa, with its first modular pole design and the AMS concept.
2023 · First Living Lab
The first Living Lab launches in Cascais, with EV, small-cell and CCTV tenants sharing the same structures.
2024 · EV charging on poles
The first EV chargers are connected on lighting poles, sharing the public-lighting feeder.
2025 · Route 25 project
Smartlamppost joins the Route 25 project (PRR Mobilising Agendas) for autonomous driving, contributing the technology-hosting infrastructure.
Future-proof your urban infrastructure.
See how a single shared pole becomes multi-tenant, revenue-generating infrastructure — managed end to end.
